George M. Yost
FAIRMONT CITY- George M. Yost, 95, of Fairmont City, Ill., passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017 at his residence.
George was born May 9, 1922 in Culver, Kansas to John M. and Anna Marie (Breithaupt) Yost. He married Marguerite Kelso and together they had three daughters, Georgia Yost of Wood River, Janet (Ray) Kreher of Hecker, and Judy (Jim) Griffith of Edwardsville; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Marguerite preceded George in death in October 1972.
On March 6, 1976, George married Jane Hagarty. They were happily married for 41 years. She survives. George has four step-children, Diane (Walt) Geising of Quincy, Debra (Philip) Mahoney of Alton, Robert (Dale) Hagarty of New Baden, Doug Hagarty of Collinsville, seven step- grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren; and step-son-in-law, David Daubach.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marguerite, one step-daughter, Dorothy Daubach and one sister, Evelyn Roy.
George worked as an automotive mechanic and a handyman for many years.
George proudly served his country during WWII from 1942-1945 the Army Air Force. He was a current member of the VFW Post 5691, American Legion Post 0961, Holy Name Society, and Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Fairmont City.

VISITATION: A visitation for George will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 9:00 A.M.- 11:00 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Fairmont City.
MEMORIAL MASS: A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the church. Father Dave M. Wilke will officiate. Inurnment will be at St. John Cemetery in Collinsville, where military honors will be rendered.
