Obituary for
James Richard Prather
James R. Prather, 89, of Maryville, Ill., born October 28, 1928, in Mt. Carmel, IL., passed into the loving arms of God on January 19, 2018, in Maryville, IL.
James was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He valiantly served as a radio operator in the U.S Navy during the Korean War. He along with his wife Jeanice, were long time members of First Baptist Maryville. James was also a member of Collinsville Masonic Lodge #712, Ainad Temple A.A.O.NMS East St. Louis Legion of Honor, Shrine Ainad Temple and Shrine Club of Collinsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James B. and Frances, nee Case, Prather; his sisters, Virginia King and Nancy Parton; his brother, Harold “Butch” Prather.
Surviving are his dear wife of 67 years Jeanice, nee Rushing, Prather of Maryville, IL.; his children, Elizabeth A. (Rick) Pitman of Fountain Hills, AZ., James G. (Patti) Prather of Sherman, IL., Jeffrey T. (Vicki) Prather of Troy, MO., Lisa I. Meyer of Maryville, IL.; his sister, Eleanor Jean (Richard) Stowe of Muncie, IN.; his ten grandchildren, Gerry (Debbie) Prather, Angela (Brad) Pitman Manderfeld, Mandy (Kelly) Prather Kovski, Tommy (Mandy Kay) Prather, Staci (Nathan) Hayes Horton, Andrea Ostendorf, Alaina (Jordan) Meyer Amos, Kimberly (Jason) Pitman Mace, Tyler Prather, Trent Prather; his 12 great-grandchildren, Abbie, Kaylee, Lucy, Kody, Jack, Sam, Stella, Sadie, Lucas, Logan, Ava, Nora.

Funeral: Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2018, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Hufty officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.
